Expedition Program and Food-Fruit Trail KoBerang 2015

Assalamualaikum

Greetings everyone

Last two months, I was told to join Expedition Program and Food-Fruit Trail KoBerang 2015 by my boss since it is our program, Tourism Malaysia Terengganu program. So I ended up join our program illegally..hahaha... This is not the first time for me in Kuala Berang but it is the first time for me to stay night in Kuala Berang. Where is Kuala Berang? Kuala Berang is one of the town in Terengganu that lays in Hulu Terengganu district. It is 56 km away from Kuala Terengganu and it will take you around 45 minutes.

First Day

First stop : Kenyir Elephant Conservation Village (KECV)

KECV is located at sungai Telemong, Tasik Kenyir, Hulu Terengganu. KECV was build at land size of 256,000 hectare with ECO and Natural Structural Enviroment. It was build in April 2012 and open for visitor in 2014.

What you will do while you were at KECV?

1. Elephant Education Show (Time 1030 and 1530)
There will be 5 elephant will show you their talent and you will enjoy with their performances because they are funny. I cannot even stop laughing watching them do their show.

2.Elephant Bath (Time 1100, 1400 and 1600)

You can watch they bathing and playing with each other. You can see they have a strong relationship and for your information, these elephant are originally from Terengganu. They have been thought by trainers from Thailand.

3. Elephant riding

4. Elephant Feeding

You need to pay RM 5 per basket for canes so that you can feed them. You will be able to see it grab the canes from you and you touch them but please be kind to animals. They are endangered animals and it is our duty to protect them.

5. Enjoying Canopy Walk

This is the dizziness part where you have to go trough suspension bridge. I cannot barely walk since the bridge keep shaking. It will take you around 15 minutes from the entrance to the elephant show

6. Photo with Elephant

It is photo time with Tourism Malaysia officers and travel agents all over Malaysia

End of our first day

Second day

Second Stop: Kuala Berang River (Kayaking)

This is not first time for me to kayak but this time is a place that never cross in my mind. Kuala Berang river is located in Hulu Terengganu and we have been told by our guide that we have to kayak for 3 hours or 10 km away from our departure spot. It was a very adventurous kayaking where we have to pass all the fallen trees with a strong river flow. Along the river we have met a group of monkey hanging from the trees and not to worry because you can sit and relax because the river flow will keep you moving. Sit back, relax and enjoy the view. (Sorry, I could not show you the view since I did not bring my camera).

Exhausted but happy

Third Stop: Wildlife Conservation Centre (Terrapin)

Terrapin is one of the small turtle that live in brackish water. This conservation is needed because this kind of species is critically endangered species. Protecting is crucial to prevent theft of eggs. Luckily Terengganu has the biggest Terrapin population which locals call Tuntung Sungai. I am one of luckiest person in the world where I got the chance to feed them. The big Tuntung are hunger for food unlike the small one since it would not it from your hand.

Feeding time
Thank you and wish you to have long lives

Forth Stop : Tok Gajah Mausoleum

Who is Tok Gajah? His full name is Imam Rasu bin Shahrum. He is a patriot who involved in battling Pahang from 1891 unti 1895. His hometown is in Pahang but his mausoleum was found in Kuala Berang, Terengganu? Because the British issued an order to arrest him but  he had alreay fled to Hulu Kelantan and later to Hulu Terengganu

may peace be upon him
Al-Fatihah

Fifth Stop : Terengganu Inscription Stone (Batu Bersurat Terengganu)

It is written in Jawi using Malay word. It is an evident of Islam in Terengganu that dated in 702 AH (1303 CE). The stone was found half-submerged by a bank of Tersat river in Kuala Berang. The stone was divided into two as can see from the picture below. This is must visit place because they will tell you more about this stone and you can read it but you will not understand it since it written in old Malay language.

You can read but you cannot understand
